Department of Internal Medicine

Welcome to the Department of Internal Medicine. Our research and education focus on endocrinology, gastroenterology, haematology, respiratory medicine, and allergology.

Our department covers a wide area of research and encompasses both advanced basic science techniques and clinical studies. In addition to basic and clinical scientists, study nurses and lab technicians assigned to patients also work in the department. Most laboratory facilities and clinical research units are located within the Sahlgrenska University Hospital.

Our strengths include the focus on translational research, in all scientific activities, and our success in attracting external grants and fruitful collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry.
